Where we came from?
In December of 1996 after five (5) months of deliberation and gelling the Volunteer Youth Corps (VYC) was formally launched. The birth of the VYC, as it soon became known as, was out of recognition on the part of young people who were attached to various departments of the Ministry Of Health of the need for young people to make a voluntary contribution to the development of the health sector. Like the Candy Stripers, a Canadian Based Charity, The Volunteer Youth Corps served to inculcate a genuine "Care for Humanity" in young Guyanese through organizing visits to the Georgetown Hospital.
