Business Development Centre
Volunteer Youth Corps (VYC) Inc, in collaboration with the Bank of Nova Scotia, is embarking on a new socio-economic development initiative. This initiative has led to the creation of a Business Development Centre (BDC). The BDC will assist Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to access and benefit from non-financial business development services, and facilitate and promote business linkages and co-operation among MSMEs and large firms.
Scotia Bank, one of the leading financial institutions in Guyana offering financial and advisory services to prospective business owners, recognised along with VYC that MSMEs make up a significant portion of economic activity. It is also the agreement that the scale of services are grossly insufficient to respond to the enormous demand of the small business sector for business development support.
The Business Development Centre was officially launched on Thursday March 26, 2009 at 14: 00 hrs at the Carmichael Street Branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia. The BDC initiative is in keeping with the vision of VYC; that is, to be the premier health, social and economic non-governmental youth organisation that provides quality and holistic support to address developmental needs in Guyana.
